Our SVIAZ/EXPO COMM MOSCOW 2008 event has been selected by the Russian government to be the promotional platform for Russia's nationwide deployment of a Global Navigation and Satellite System, known as the GLONASS program.
Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, has declared access to GLONASS will be available free of charge to all consumers. GLONASS is a Russian sat-nav protocol which will provide service to subscribers that is similar to GPS in the United States and the GALILEO system in Europe.
Mr. Sergey Ivanov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, will personally oversee the effort to make GLONASS a reality. Sergey Ivanov wrote the welcome message for our 2007 show. Sergey Ivanov is pictured in the SVIAZ/EXPO COMM MOSCOW 2007 show directory as one of the highest ranking national government leaders to officially endorse our event.
The GLONASS project is classified as a national priority by the Russian government and has support at the highest levels of government. Procurement and purchasing for GLONASS and promotion for this project is directly connected to our show.
